Pathology

Young Adult

Our doctors treat a wide variety of pathologies of the oral cavities and jaws. We often see patients who are referred by their dentist or physician.

Soft tissue lesions (lumps and bumps) of the mouth and lips are common and can often be treated in the office. Most often these lesions are benign, but no lesion can be diagnosed by visual inspection, so the excised lesion may be sent to a lab for microscopic inspection. Following this, your surgeon will discuss the lab results with you and determine whether any further treatment is indicated.

Hard tissue lesions can occur around the teeth or within the jawbones. As with soft tissue lesions, we often send the specimen to the lab for microscopic evaluation to aid us with diagnosis and treatment. Treatment of these lesions maybe able to be done in the office or sometimes a hospital setting. We will review your specific situation and treatment needs at your initial consultation.
